That is the question. Why did I start a blog? Well, I have been reading a number of fashion blogs for almost three years, developed an obsession and had no one to talk about it. Starting my own blog was a really big step, I never like to show people what I write but in a blog it will be available for everyone. I hope to find like minded people, who share the passion, are still looking for themselves and love to try new things. In addition I’d like to improve my writing skills so that writing essays would not be so difficult.
Who am I then? I am a second year business student in the University of Manchester. I am from Finland and I lived there for six year until my family moved to Switzerland after my dad’s job. I finished high school there in an international school but figured out that I didn’t want to go back to Finland. So I chose England. I wanted to stay in Europe and to be able to study in English so the UK was quite a natural decision. And I am only an hour and half away from my family by plane. I love Switzerland and that will probably deserve its own post. England happens to be the opposite of Switzerland and I have to say that I had a culture shock when I first moved here. I am still not used to it, but I am trying to get by. It is not all negative though! Living in the UK was also one of the main reasons I decided to write in English. I always try to improve my English, but even though I have used it daily for the past five years, I still feel like my text comes across simple and rather bland. However, it wasn’t an easy decision as I feel that my Finnish is getting worse and I should keep up with it by writing. That’s why I started reading Finnish fashion blogs in the first place, to have something interesting and quick to read in Finnish that did not require too much effort.
Where do I want this blog to go to? At the moment I do not own a camera, which is rather silly when you are writing a style/fashion blog. I am planning on focusing on my current inspirations, mood boards, shopping lists and making the most out of my closet. I do not shop very often and therefore there will not be tons of new clothes on this blog every month. I try to buy only clothes that I love and will wear for a long time, and avoid impulse buys. This happens to everyone obviously, but for me it is a rare occasion so I am not too bothered about it. I have a tendency to stick to the easy clothes but I have tried to start using more of my older clothes that I have not worn recently for one reason or another. At the moment there are things that I lust for but do not really need. There is, however, a friend’s 21st birthday party coming up next week for which I have to buy a dress for.
I am still trying to learn how to use WordPress and all the additional stuff that I will need for the blog.
